Sure if you afk/loose, but still gain something, I'd suggest there's a bot/farm issue. But bringing a 'nub' along and still winning sounds legit.

I suspect more must be going on in this case, but then I don't PvP anymore...

Actually, you had violated the rules quite a few times before receiving this account termination, and it wasn't for what you stated in public here in this post. Your account was terminated due to several lines of blatantly offensive chat, making this your 12th breach on the account. You were given many chances to behave, but you didn't.

The first one was kind of over the top, sure. It makes sense to investigate, hence Regina's asking for a support ticket #.

The second mentioned ban was pretty hilarious and well-deserved.

To be honest I'm surprised you won't looked into for botting as theres 8760 hours in a year so in 3 years theres 26280 (8760x3) so you to have played for 12,900 hours over 38 months you would have been playing for approximately 10 hours a day 365 days a year.

If you just go to the character select screen, it still counts you as logged in and time gets racked up.

the ban may seem fair or not.
There is absolutely no progressive bans. It is like death penalty, no other chance, account termination.
His behaviour was for him a fair use of game and like any other runs/farms we can find ingame.
For ANet it is harming the reliability of pvp title as a measure and reward of skills of players, thus harming GW. ANet chooses to trade a good-faith user for a 0% risk of more offense, by completely banning him.

Who do you think it will hurt more in the end ?

Just to compare, did Rawr deliberately manipulated the ladder ?
Poor of them, their cape color got changed...
(Nota : I have nothing against rawr, just pointing on flaws)

Personnaly, if my account would get terminated in such a manner, I would just sue them for abusive termination of license.
I highly doubt their EULA got reviewed by lawyers. Oh, what, isn't that a legal contract ? In all case, players might not be lawyers and not understand fully what they are agreeing with. Especially when it is too vague and when it can be extended to whatever NCSoft decides to be harmfull for GW.

I'm a guildie of the guy who got banned and i think it has just been a minor mis-understanding on the GM's part.

The fact is that last night my guildie added a guy to his group to farm fame, and only farmed 10 fame @2k ea (20k) and went to bed afterwards. Today, in the middle of a gvg he suddenly just logged out. There was the expected "wtf's" on vent and on logging back in he told us he was perma-banned. There wasn't even an explanation when he logged in. Of course, we were all speculating why he was perma-banned. At the time we all thought that it was because another guildie of ours had lent him a VS for the weekend (a one-sided trade that could be looked at as selling IG items for RL money). But after waiting a couple hr's+sending a support ticket he was told the reason stated in this thread. A few of us have scanned the EULA and it is clearly stated that "You may not offer in-game services for real-world cash."

By the way, the reason we're so annoyed about this and urgent to get this resolved is because we're going to be playing the MAT tomorrow, and this guildie is in the core+a 14 dayer. There are no 14 day accounts for him to play on (unless his account is re-instated v.soon).

@people saying that they're glad a fame farmer got banned. Fame farming is not afk'ing or leeching. You're given a bar+role to play in a proper team and you're expected to play decently. It gives pve'ers or people trying to get into pvp the chance to play with r9+ groups and to get to know the ins and outs of HA quite quickly.

I'm drinking a bit, but this topic has merged about two different bans yea?? I think its gotten off track of its orginal topic and Regina even responded to both of them individiually? Thats impressive, how bout some news on the z-coin bug while we are at it.

But on topic, buying fame has been going on for years. There's something missing to this whole topic, because someone had to report something to get A-Nets attention in the first place. And 10 fame is hardly the place for a ban. I know people have bought and sold full bambis and wolves for gold/ecto/zkeys.

As for the guy swearing, 12th account breach...i think you dug your own grave there.

Jonnie got what he deserved and I'm VERY glad Regina set the record straight on that...12 account breaches...

As for the guy who got perma banned for offering fame farming, that has been going on for a LONG time now and I'm sure it is a gross misunderstanding on the plaync support's side. Hopefully they will resolve it in time before the mAT tomorrow and there is no irreparable damage to the account.

I know that there is some little clause in the EULA where they will not disclose what happens in a situation where someone is banned, but I think that this concerns many people and it would be beneficial for Regina to disclose whether it was indeed a mixup on anet's side, or whether fame farming services are suddenly and abruptly against the EULA. And even if it is suddenly against the EULA, the OP should not be banned because it is not explicitly stated.

Its not really my first chance, I once got a 72h ban for flaming in halls. Dunno if that counts.

Of course it counts... and you should realize flaming etc.. is not an acceptable behaviour in MMOs.

Anyway, whereas your last supposed violation (selling fame) got you to the ultimate escalation of bannibility, you got replied by regina that you were warned about 12 previous violations (and temporarly banned?).

So your complaint is legitimate until they can point on another violation or until they decide that your last violation should have actually got you perma-banned.

I have a feeling that its rather connected to champ pt farming. Have you ever used cp farmer guilds? Because that is more likely ladder manipulation (imo) when the 2 lame-*ss guilds join in in dead hours then just resign to farm cp-s, so they dont lose rating or rank either as they do it for several matches
